Applying metal smartphone back covers has already became a trend with the development of technology and customer taste, even now most mobile phones under $100 are using all metal bodies. Though there are some glass/ceramic smartphones, all metal body is in the leading position.
Let’s get to know some features of metal body smartphones before introducing their manufacturing processes.
Metal back covers look pretty and offer good touch feelings, meanwhile, they would be resist to scratch and compression as well as bending, those covers made of magnesium alloy are even lighter than those made of PC materials, and of course, metal material has a better hardness performance.
Nowadays, manufacturers want to make their phones slimmer, thus giving a higher standard for metal smartphone back covers. Heat dissipation is another problem while using mobile phones, and metal body has a better performance than any other materials.
While there are still weak points for metal smartphones, and the one that matter the most is the signal problem, and that’s why some people may doubt about the existence of these double white line designs on back covers.
There are almost 7 steps manufacturing smartphone back covers start from aluminum raw materials:
1, To cut and extrude aluminum panels because of the weakness of pure aluminum materials, and then it comes to roughing process;
2, To make notches on smartphone back covers that enabling signal, then dip the cover in some special chemical agents, followed by Nano injection under high pressure and temperature environments;
3, To mold the metal body, and after this process, the shape of a smartphone will be clear, then follow this step with CNC;
4, To polish the metal body to the A0 degree of finish, and the back cover will be like mirror, then sandblast the case to make it more nice and pretty;
5, To anodize the smartphone back cover to make it stable and colorful, and then to drill holes for volume and speakers, and do not forget to remove those parts for fixing;
6, To anodize the back part again to make the metal body resistant to stain and abrasion;
7, To embed nuts with manipulator to fix main board and some other components.
After all these steps, a beautiful and nice-looking smartphone metal back cover is made, and of course there would be other processes for some certain metal covers.
